O poprawności politycznej, tzw. mowie nienawiści i odpowiedzialności za słowo

O poprawności politycznej, tzw. mowie nienawiści i odpowiedzialności za słowo
Rosiak-Zięba, Ewa
Political correctness constitutes a highly emotive phenomenon. Its proponents advocate measures aimed at counteracting discrimination against certain minority groups, whereas its critics—without necessarily disputing this objective—express reservations concerning, at the very least, the means proposed to achieve it. This article examines the key issues associated with this phenomenon in relation to the notion of verbal responsibility. The analysis encompasses not only the broadly conceived concept of political correctness (including, inter alia, efforts to address so called ‘hate speech’) but also selected strategies for implementing its postulates. The paper proposes a definition in which ‘responsibility for one’s words’ is understood as an obligation to accept the consequences of a given utterance in accordance with the normative requirements established by a particular norm or constellation of norms. The conclusions address several aspects of political correctness as they relate to the interplay between standards of freedom of expression and verbal responsibility.

Locality, Universalism, and Modernity in khutbas for Polish Muslims

Locality, Universalism, and Modernity in khutbas for Polish Muslims
Chudziak, Mateusz; Górak-Sosnowska, Katarzyna; Krotofil, Joanna
The article presents the results of research on sermons delivered in mosques belonging to three Polish Muslim organisations: Muslim Religious Union (MZR), Muslim League (LM), and Sakinah Foundation (FS). The analysis focuses on the strategies adopted by Polish Muslim preachers who, in their sermons (khutbas), try to address issues that are important for the life and identity of the Muslim minority in Poland. Among these issues are: the embedding of Islam in Polish social reality as a fully-fledged part of the Polish cultural context; the relationship of teachings based on the Qur’anic revelation to the challenges of modernity; the links between minoritarian identity and universalism, religion, and science, or the precepts of Islam and the population management practices characteristic of modern societies. The detailed analysis suggests ways of resolving potential dilemmas that may arise for a Muslim from the tensions in these areas.
This study was conducted as part of the project DIGITISLAM: Digital Islam across Europe: Understanding Muslims’ Participation in Online Islamic Environments (2021/03/Y/HS2/00252) financed by the National Science Centre in the programme CHANSE Transformations: Social and Cultural Dynamics in the Digital Age.

Platformizacja nauki szansa dla otwartej nauki?

Niniejszy tekst Zawiera analize obiegu wartosci w łańcuchu opisujacyrn publikwanie treści w czasopismach naukowych w systemie tradycyjnym oraz z wykorzystaniem (otwartych) platform naukowych. Wydaje sie, że jedynie ,,zielona droga” open access pozwala na zachowanie zrówwnoważonych zasad otwartego publikowania.; This text presents an analysis of the circulation of value within the value chain describing the publication of content in academic journals, both within the traditional system and through (open) scientific platforms. The analysis is based on Porter’s value chain model, adapted to the cultural and creative sectors, drawing upon existing literature and secondary data. The findings suggest that pressure from funding institutions to publish in the open access model has led to a distortion of the original idea of open access, resulting in the emergence of pathological phenomena within the system. It appears that only the “green route” to open access enables the preservation of balanced principles of open publishing.
