Abstract
The text presents the history and operation of Accidents Insurance Company in Lwów from gaining the independence of Poland until its liquidation in 1933 due to the integration of insurance business in 1933 on account of a legislative act. The company established in 1889 was one of the most important insurance institution on Polish territories. Since the very beginning it was Polish institution manager
by Poles with Polish staff and Polish official language. Thanks to it, it became a professional personnel resource for almost all Polish insurance companies in the between-wars period. After 1918 it changed its range of operation. Besides the former Austrian territories it included accident insurance operation on the former Russian territories. The company had many assets and apart from insurance operation, it invested money, run courses on workplace safety and also begun publishing activity. After dissolving the company its duties were taken over by newly established ZUS.
